Jackfruit, World’s largest tree-borne fruit and the largest edible fruit on the earth. The Scientific name for Jackfruit is Artocarpus heterophyllus and it is belongs to Moraceae family. Jackfruit is native to India and Malaysia. Now a day it is cultivated many other areas of the world including South Asia, Africa and South America. Jackfruit is the national fruit of Bangladesh.

How can we eat Jackfruit?
This delicious fruit has a very thick and thorny rind. These thorns are not sharped as Rose thrones. Under the rind you can find Stringy flesh. Ripe or Unripe we can eat this special fruit. From unripe Jackfruit we can make a variety of dishes like Vegan Jerky and Vegan Pulled Pork. Jackfruit is a delicious food. Vegetarians often use Jackfruit as an alternative to meat. Ripe Jackfruit has a sweet taste and pungent smell. We can get different food products from Jackfruit such as Ice cream, Jam, Jellies and Marmalades from the market.

Opening a Jackfruit and getting the flesh out is little bit difficult. and it has sticky sap so oil your knife prior to cutting.
